Dwarf Chinkapin Oak (Quercus muehlenbergii 'Dwarf')

The dwarf chinkapin oak is a smaller, compact cultivar of the chinkapin oak, typically growing 15 to 25 feet tall. It has a rounded, dense crown with glossy, serrated leaves that turn golden-brown in fall. Its bark is gray and lightly textured, providing subtle character in the landscape.

This oak produces small, edible acorns that attract wildlife, including birds and squirrels. Its reduced size makes it ideal for smaller yards, gardens, or urban plantings where a full-sized oak may not fit.

Highly adaptable to a range of soils and sun conditions, the dwarf chinkapin oak provides the beauty and resilience of its larger counterpart in a more manageable form. Its ornamental foliage, wildlife value, and compact size make it a versatile choice for landscapes of all scales.
